North Korea Denounces US Raid on Venezuela
A representative from North Korea's Foreign Ministry stated that Pyongyang recognizes the severity of Venezuela's current crisis, attributing it to Washington's forceful measures. The official cautioned that rising tensions threaten to destabilize an already precarious region.
"This incident serves as yet another example of the rogue and bestial nature of the United States, a trait the international community has witnessed countless times over the years," the ministry said.
North Korea characterized Washington's military action as an exercise in dominance and the gravest type of sovereignty violation, labeling it a "flagrant violation" of the UN Charter and established international legal frameworks. These foundational principles emphasize sovereignty respect, non-intervention in domestic matters, and territorial boundaries.
Pyongyang called on global powers to condemn Washington's actions and treat Venezuela's unfolding emergency with appropriate seriousness, emphasizing its damaging impact on both regional security and worldwide diplomatic relations.
Early Saturday, Venezuela's government announced that US forces struck civilian and military targets across several provinces, subsequently declaring a nationwide state of emergency.
US President Donald Trump acknowledged the extensive military strike and confirmed that Maduro and his spouse were apprehended and transported from Venezuelan territory. Both individuals are now being held at a detention facility in New York.
The assault follows an extended period of escalating American pressure against Maduro, whom Washington has accused of involvement in narcotics smuggling operations. The Venezuelan leader had rejected these allegations and indicated willingness for diplomatic dialogue.
